BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Instructors must be knowledgeable in the areas of the instructional process, curriculum development and adult teaching strategies.

STATE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Instructors must hold a bachelor's degree or higher. A valid teaching certificate (Virginia or other) is preferred.

An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work at the school.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

  • Offer quality, individualized instruction to students.
  • Use instructional materials, equipment, and aids as supplied by Prince William County Public Schools Adult Education and maintain an accurate inventory.
  • Provide pre-testing and post-testing at intervals to determine student achievement.
  • Provide security and confidentiality of all test materials and student records.
  • Prepare and submit all required monthly and annual reports.
  • Complete required federal, state, and local paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled by the coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records which may be reviewed by the coordinator to determine if class will be continued.
  • Arrange for an approved substitute teacher if unable to meet class schedule. Classes will only be canceled due to inclement weather and/or if Prince William County Public Schools are closed. Any other cancellation of classes must be approved by the coordinator.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with students and local school officials.
  • Acknowledge temporary status of position as an adult education instructor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the coordinator and/or supervisor.

SALARY:
$32.00 p/h

FULL TIME/PART TIME: TEMPORARY
