Job Objective:

Under the management of the Dietary Supervisor, performs work requiring a high degree of accuracy in collecting revenue for transactions entered on cash register. Verifies cash bank at beginning of each shift; notifies Manager of any variances. Enters accurate information neatly on Cashier's Work Sheet; responsible for insuring that cash revenue/bank is properly secured at all times.

Cleans tables, equipment, and windows daily; closely monitors sales area and restock supplies as needed. Insures that working area is maintained in a high state of sanitation at all times. The cashier will work together with the employees of the department to provide optimal environmental services to the patients, visitors, and staff to ensure the healing and well-being of each individual.

The cashier will perform any other related tasks as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verifies cash bank at beginning of each shift with Supervisor.
  • Sets up cash register with cash bank and refills register tape as needed; operates register with a high degree of accuracy during shift.
  • Counts end of shift revenue and has verified with Supervisor places in envelope signs, seals and dates envelope indicates amount of revenue & indicates meal. Drops envelope in safe drop box and turns drum.
  • Verifies bank with Supervisor and places in safe. And accurately completes cashier portion of cashier daily worksheet at end of shift. Obtain supervisors initials.
  • When over rings occur complete the transaction and print receipt. Enter information from receipt into the over ring forms. Attach receipt to form in sequence order. Total over ring form at the end of each shift.
  • Refunds for food items need to have a printed receipt and that receipt need to be attached to receipt form.
  • Refunds for vending printed receipt is required. Receipt needs to be attached to refund form. Form is to be turned into supervisor at the end of shift for Supervisor to reimburse for amount of refund immediately.
  • Maintains awareness of cafeteria and serving areas for cleanliness, neatness and ensuring customers pay for all items taken.
  • Responsible for cleaning and re-stocking all beverage refrigerators, grab & go items and chip racks throughout meal service and before cafeteria reopens for service.
  • Cleans and monitors dining and patio area at beginning and end of shifts and throughout the day as needed.
  • Assists other cafeteria staff with keeping tables cleans neatly arranged and ensuring silverware, plates and trays are available for customer use throughout the day.
  • Dishes up and set-up dessert bar with desserts as needed on weekends.
  • Monitors salad bar during meals and keep area wiped down, free of spillage and dropped food items.
  • Always provides service to patrons in a positive, pleasant and cheerful manner.
  • Distribute late shift meals to nursing departments throughout shift as needed.
  • Always handles, prepares, and serves food products with a high compliance of sanitation requirements.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and maintains work area in a high state of cleanliness during shift.
  • Uses universal precautions at all times by wearing gloves, goggles, and washing hands frequently.
  • Always uses appropriate chemicals for cleaning.
  • Always uses appropriate safety equipment.
  • Sets up Cafeteria with fresh fruit, pastries, condiments, cereals, etc., for use during Breakfast meal (A.M.)
  • Cleans inside and outside of exit door windows at start of A.M. shift, ensuring that windows are free of streaks, smudges and fingerprints.
  • Responsible for placing out menus and price sheets.
  • Responsible for keeping all dispensing machines and other equipment cleaned daily according to schedule. Daily cleans juice, coffee & soda machine. PM Shift.
  • Follow all HACCP guidelines.
