Join us.<br> <br><strong>Job Description<br></strong> <br>AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist for employment in the Atlanta, GA office. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on Federal/CERCLA/FUDs projects including Superfund and DOD sites.<br> <br>The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:<br> <ul><li>Conduct planning, implementation, and evaluation of data for CERCLA remediation investigations and remedial activities including RI, FS, ROD, PP and RDs.</li> <li>Manage or participate in treatability studies and full scale implementation of in situ and ex situ remediation of environmental media.</li> <li>Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.</li> <li>Prepares technical work plans and reports.</li> <li>Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.</li> <li>Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental measures in natural systems.</li> <li>Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment; prepare samples for shipping, and complete chain-of-custody or similar paperwork.</li> <li>Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations.</li> <li>Conduct oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.</li> <li>Study contaminants and determine how to restore the environment.</li> <li>Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines.</li> <li>Coordination with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation.</li> <li>Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety</li> <br></ul><strong>Qualifications<br></strong> <br><strong>Minimum Requirements<br></strong> <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering or Environmental Science, + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education</li> <li>Valid U.S. Driver's License</li> <li>Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.</li> <br></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br></strong> <ul><li>4 years or more of relevant experience specifically with CERCLA RI/FS/RD processes on Superfund and DOD sites.</li> <li>Knowledge of treatability studies and implementation of in situ and ex situ contaminant remediation technologies.</li> <li>Experience conducting PFAS site assessments.</li> <li>OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification with annual refresher training.</li> <li>Coursework and experience in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or other related discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology).</li> <li>Experience leading field sampling events for soil and groundwater site assessments.</li> <li>Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies</li> <li>Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.</li> <li>40 hour HAZWOPER training and/or annual 8 hour refresher class.</li> <li>Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.</li> <li>Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.
