SUMMARY
The Extrusion Operator is responsible for all machinery operations. This includes changeover of tools and fixtures, startup/shut down of equipment, and material handling as needed. ****Position is third shift and works from 9p-5:30a Sun-Thurs, and is eligible for a $1/per hour shift premium****

IN THIS ROLE, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL

  • Changeover of tooling & fixtures for product sizes
  • Startup/shut down of equipment
  • Monitors basic quality such as OD, color, print, and surface
  • Responsible for adjusting process parameters to maintain quality throughout run
  • Ability to load pre-defined process programs in extruder and coiler
  • Material handling duties as required
  • Troubleshoot/Repair minor issues, with the ability to expand learning on more complex repairs
  • Effective communication of technical issues with engineering
  • Any additional duties assigned by management

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and/or experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:
  • Minimum completion of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree preferred but not required; trade/vocation school may be considered
  • 2 year of experience with machine operations
  • Previous troubleshooting of extruders, material vacuums, cooling tanks, and if possible product ink jet printers and material coilers is preferred
  • Familiar with plastic extrusion and plastic material properties
  • Able to perform equipment maintenance and basic mechanical/electrical repair
  • Familiar with Quality Control procedures
  • Equipment installation or troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Computer interface skills and experience
  • Required to work onsite

Manual labor positions include maintenance, warehouse, transportation, and other positions whose primary duties involve physical labor and exertion. Maintenance positions frequently operate machinery and other equipment, and clean and maintain various grounds, equipment, lighting, and other facility items. The type of work performed by persons in these positions include shipping, electrical, and picking/packing work. Persons holding transportation positions regularly operate vehicles and transport mail, packages, and other goods. Warehouse positions constantly handle equipment, packages, and other goods. Employees in manual labor positions are often required to operate a computer, read, and write. They are frequently required to communicate and interact with others, in person and over computers, phones and other devices. In addition, they are frequently required to reach, twist, lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Persons holding manual labor positions work at specific Legend locations, but may occasionally be required to travel to other locations, as needed. Employees in these positions are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to hot or cold weather, and wet and/or humid conditions. Positions may also be exposed to high, precarious places requiring PPE. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to occasionally loud.
