Description:Physician Coder: Trauma Surgery is responsible for reviewing and accurately coding all professional services including evaluation and management, diagnostics, surgeries, and procedures in compliance with applicable Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer guidelines to ensure receipt of accurate reimbursement. Physician Coder: Trauma Surgery is expected to adhere to MedKoder’s internal coding policies and expectations set forth by department management. Physician Coder: Trauma Surgery must prioritize daily duties, multitask, communicate effectively, and make the decisions necessary to complete all assigned tasks and accomplish their goals. We are currently looking for candidates with experience specializing in the following areas: Trauma Surgery coder with expertise in multiple areas of specialty surgical coding and E/M services. E/M expertise must include teaching physician scenarios, split/shared services, and incident-to billing. Responsibilities:<ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Review and accurately code Trauma Surgery and E/M cases to maximize reimbursement in a timely manner.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Review and accurately code E/M visits and office procedures.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Able to work independently and research coding scenarios.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Coder is responsible for meeting our daily production goal and our quality goal of averaging 95% accuracy rate on a consistent basis.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Attend conference calls as necessary to provide information and/or feedback.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Communicate with leadership on coding or documentation issues/trends.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Stay current on all coding guidelines (to include surgery-specific guidelines) and maintain credentials as necessary.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Participate in coding department and education meetings.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Flexible to expand coding skill set into other specialties.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Other duties as assigned by leadership.</li></ul> Education/Experience Requirements: <ul><li style="list-style-type:disc;">High School diploma required. Associates or BS degree preferred.</li><li style="list-style-type:disc;">Successful completion of at least one AHIMA or AAPC certified program with the achievement of the correlating professional credential (CCS-P, CPC, etc.); active and in good standing. A CPC or CCS-P certification is required.
