Overview

We're looking for a creative and adaptable Social Video Editor who understands how to communicate with developer audiences and work with our world-class engineering, developer relations, and marketing teams to create social video that is engaging and impactful. You’ll be a key player in building content across our channels, working independently and collaboratively with various teams to bring their visions to life, while also looking for ways to repurpose content we already have to help it resonate meaningfully with our diverse and global community.


Responsibilities

  • Video Editing & Post-Production: Work creatively to craft compelling and engaging short-form social content that is optimized for various platforms, meets brand standards, and performs well with GitHub’s audience. Execute editorial duties with precision and finesse - this includes selecting and adding music, sound effects, graphics, text overlays, color grading, creating captions, and designing thumbnails.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with various teams to understand their social video needs and deliver high-quality content that meets their objectives. This includes participating in brainstorming sessions and providing creative input.
  • Content Repurposing: Identify opportunities to repurpose existing long-form video content into shorter, engaging edits for social media.
  • Maintain Brand Consistency: Ensure all social video content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains a consistent visual style.
  • Asset Management: Organize and manage video footage, audio files, and other multimedia assets effectively and efficiently. Ensure all content is backed up, cataloged, and easily accessible for future use. Demonstrate a solid understanding of post-production workflows and collaborative editing.
  • Editorial support: Ingest and organize media to prepare projects for editing or handoff. Source assets, create folder structures, project files, sync audio/visual assets, make selects. Ensure brand assets are used correctly and captions are accurate.
  • Social Video Optimization: Maintain a strong understanding of social video trends, best practices, and platform-specific requirements. Adapt video content to optimize performance on each platform. Track the performance of social videos and use metrics to provide guidance to partner teams on the types of video content that we should be creating for different platforms. Create A/B tests with social thumbnails to help optimize performance.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in video production or related field
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Film, Marketing, Advertising, or related field AND 3+ years experience in video production or related field
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years proven experience in creating engaging social video content.
  • 2+ years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro & After Effects) and other social media editing tools.
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant social video work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of social media platforms and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with transcribing, copyediting, generating, and editing captions.
  • Strong time management, organizational abilities, and expert attention to detail.
  • A passion for storytelling and visual communication.
  • Experience with basic video shooting, light motion graphics, and color grading.
  • Experience managing projects with other suppliers.


Compensation Range

The base salary range for this job is USD $79,500.00 - USD $210,700.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
