Harold Washington College is Seeking a Temporary Student Research Assistant – PT. City Colleges of Chicago’s vision is to be recognized as the city’s most accessible higher education engine of socioeconomic mobility and racial equity – empowering all Chicagoans to take part in building a stronger and more just city. The community college system’s more than 3,500 faculty and staff serve more than 60,000 students annually at seven colleges and five satellite sites.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and eligible to work in the United States
  • Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours pre-credit or credit classes
  • Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate
  • Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students)
  • Applicants must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions
  • Applicants must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • All positions are “employment at-will”

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the assigned supervising faculty mentor, performs duties in support of a defined research project, such as literature review, field work, and laboratory experiments.
  • Prepares scientific reports and presentations.
  • Attends mandatory meetings and workshops.
  • Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Service Excellence Standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
