Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Multiple Field Offices. This position starts at a salary of $105,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $137,000.00 (GS-13, Step 10). As a re-employed annuitant CBP may allow a waiver of Salary Offset (Dual Compensation Waiver). Reemployed annuitants with a dual compensation waiver receive both their full basic annuity and full salary. TERM Appointment: To meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a term basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 4 years. Candidates may be contacted prior to the JOA close date to initiate the hiring process. Who May Apply: Retired CBP Officers: Must meet eligibility for reinstatement as defined by 5 CFR 315.401. Must have passed the CBPO Field Operations Academy and post-Academy prior to leaving CBP. Must have successfully completed the requirements of a probationary or trial period. Must have satisfactory or pass performance appraisals during the last three years of federal employment. Must have been separated at the applicant's choice with no disciplinary action taken within the last three years of CBP employment and with no disciplinary proceeding pending. Must have held a competitive permanent position with the Full Performance Level of GS-12. Retired applicants must have been retired one (1) year before the opening date of this announcement. Other Information

Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18 month probationary period upon appointment. Leadership Training: All newly appointed first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include SLT 3 weeks, of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed.. All first-line appointed supervisors, who have never completed a supervisory probationary period are required to successfully complete the Essential Supervisory Skills (ESS) course during their supervisory probationary period. Failure to successfully complete the ESS course within the supervisory probationary period will result in the employee being removed from the position. Rotation of Assignments/Duty Locations: You may be required to rotate assignments and duty locations. Uniform: This position requires you to wear an officially-approved uniform while in a duty status. Training: This position has a training requirement. Selectee(s) are required to attend and successfully complete 101-days of paid training at the CBP Field Operations Academy (FOA) in Glynco, GA. Prior to arriving at the FOA, selectee's must complete approximately 7-10 days of pre-academy training. Upon successful completion of FOA training, selectee's must complete an additional 14-17 weeks of post-academy training the selectee(s) assigned duty station.
