About the position

Responsibilities

  • Develop, grow, and coach a high-performing team to drive data strategy, management, and governance to meet NY Electric's operational and transformational objectives.
  • Lead NY Electric data strategy, roadmaps, and execution while coordinating with the broader Group data transformation ambitions.
  • Identify the data capabilities and needs required to achieve transformation outcomes in coordination with the broader electric organization.
  • Develop roadmaps with prioritized investments sequenced over time.
  • Define and manage a resource strategy for the delivery of data plans and tier 1 system support.
  • Define and own the execution of data platform as well as product build and management.
  • Build a robust community across NY Electric to further data governance and ways of working.
  • Execute key data workflow and gap closure work to enable business outcomes.
  • Manage the successful delivery of strategies, tracking progress, and ensuring accountability to meet roadmap requirements.
  • Work closely with the IT function to develop technology strategy and execution that underpin the ambition of the business.
  • Ensure clarity on benefits being delivered, tracking them from project inception through to realization.
  • Drive change and communication around data for NY Electric to influence and inspire change across the organization.
  • Develop relevant communications and engagement with stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with internal and external change management and communications organizations.
  • Act as a coordinating point to provide business insights from across the NY Electric organization.
  • Proactively grow a network with other utilities and industry partners to leverage best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as a business leader at a senior level managing change programs.
  • Experience with support services and data systems for key legacy enterprise systems such as Smallworld GIS, ASPEN and IMAP (ArcGIS Online).
  • Solid knowledge of utility processes and data workflows.
  • Significant experience in commissioning/managing large-scale technology projects and programs within the electric utility operations environment.
  • Track record of managing key stakeholders at senior levels in a large publicly listed organization during a change program.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to lead, motivate, and develop required departmental capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and strategic skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional teams and deliver project results in a comprehensive and timely fashion.
  • Ability to communicate and work with people at all levels and across organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with strong project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with coaching skills strongly desired.
  • Solid knowledge of technical aspects including data architecture, modeling, database management, data warehouse/data lake, data analytics and system support.
  • A valid driver's license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.
